KYA Calls Kauru Council Chairman - Bashir Dawaki for Visionary Development in Kauru LGA.


The ongoing construction of the first ICT Centre in Ikara LGA is not just a project. It is a statement of vision, purpose, and leadership. The initiative of the council chairman, Bashir Mamman Dogon-Koli, has shown what focused governance can achieve when leadership is driven by foresight and commitment to the future. This project, when completed, will directly address the long-standing technological gap in the LGA and expose students, job seekers, and workers to opportunities that were previously out of reach. It is already shaping up to be a legacy project that will serve generations.

Sadly, the situation in Kauru LGA tells a different story. Kauru has continued to lag behind in critical areas of development, especially in infrastructure and technology. Around November to December last year, while Ikara was laying foundations for its ICT Centre, I clearly remember passing a well cleared and strategically located piece of land within Kauru metropolis close to GSS Kauru with Bashar Thaheer. At that moment, a simple thought came to mind. If wishes were horses, Kauru should emulate what Ikara is doing and build a modern ICT Centre on that land for the benefit of the entire local government.

Such a project would immediately ease the burden on our youths who are forced to travel to Kaduna or Zaria just to register for common examinations like Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). It would reduce financial pressure on families, reduce security risks associated with travel, and bring opportunities directly to our people. If the land does not belong to the government, the leadership can engage the owners, explain the public value of the project, and compensate them fairly in the interest of collective development.

Beyond ICT, Kauru is faced with several painful infrastructural deficiencies. Many of our primary schools are in terrible condition, especially Model Primary School Kauru. Even the only town hall we have in Kauru remains neglected. These issues are not new. They have been repeatedly written about and brought to the attention of the chairman, yet nothing meaningful has been done.

This is therefore a renewed public call to the leadership of Kauru LGA. Our people deserve projects that directly affect their lives. Projects that touch education, opportunity, dignity, and the future of our children. A modern ICT Centre, properly equipped and accredited as a JAMB CBT Centre, will not just be a building. It will be a turning point in the history of Kauru.

Legacy is not built with words. It is built with actions. The people of Kauru are just asking for vision, commitment, and purposeful leadership. Years from now, history will remember those who chose to build for the future. The land is there. The need is clear. The opportunity is present. What remains is the courage to act.
